The EU Ecolabel
The EU Ecolabel is recognized as the environmental label of the European Union, wellknown in all EU member states. It was introduced by the European Commission in 1992. The voluntary label has gradually become a reference point for consumers who want to help reduce pollution by purchasing more environmentally friendly products and services. The guidelines for awarding the Ecolabel are developed in cooperation of all EU member states.
The label is awarded to products and services that have a lower environmental impact than comparable products. The EU Ecolabel is intended to enable consumers to identify more environmentally friendly and healthier products.
